Oakland, Arcata, Eugene, Bend, Petaluma… only the biggest cities and the biggest stages for our World Tour. And you know what? Those places rocked! One of the highlights (aside from meeting food revolutionary Alice Waters of Chez Panisse and throwin a hoedown for their annual harvest party at Greenstring Farm) was playing and hanging in Humboldt County. Our time in Humboldtlandia was short, but we stopped by KHUM for a lil teaser for our show at the Arcata Playhouse- and filmed this gem with our pal Chuck Johnson at Freak Photo. Check it out! Btw, those are definitely not beers people are holding as they exit the van, we would never do that, it is illegal.
The newest, coolest, biggest little festival in the coolest, biggest little county in California has got to be the Redwood Ramble. Nestled in the Redwoods of Mendocino County, this festy was born out of the literal ashes of Yosemite’s Rim Fire last year, as The Ramble was organized to be an alternative the Strawberry Music Festival (which has been on pause ever since.) We’re thrilled to be part of the line up, and are joined by some great acts from far and wide. Tix for this July 3-6 event are SOLD OUT, but visit their website for possible wait list or trades, hope to see you there!
We’re thrilled to appearing on Saturday May 17 at Slim’s as part of the 1st Annual AmeriCarnival! This is a multimedia Americana spectacular from Vaudville to the Barbary Coast to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and we’ll be headlining this eclectic event. Tickets are available NOW!
We had a blast during our debut at The Freight for a very special Valentine’s Day show on Friday Feb 14. Oysters were eaten, champagne was drunken, people were boogy’n… mission accomplished!
If you missed the show, here’s a 5min montage of some highlights from the evening. Big thanks to The Freight, Events & Adventures, Tokyo Fish Market, and our film pals at Zone 26 for making this night AWESOME!
Although 2013 is widely considered the Year of the Snake, it’s been a hell of a ride for ungulates too. We’ve had a tremendous debut year with the release of a new EP, capacity shows at great Bay Area venues such as The Great American Music Hall and The Chapel, and a capstone performance at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. Be sure to check us out in 2014… it’s the Year of The Horse, close enough. THANK YOU FANS, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Clothing optional party at Cafe Du Nord on Fri Nov 22, and by “clothing" we mean Bluegrass. Join SUPERMULE, Cahalen Morrison & Eli West, and The Barbary Ghosts for a night in the buff- no marauding behind some 10gal hat and a pair of Wrangler’s, we’re gonna let it all hang out. You like funk? Done. You like sea-shanties? Done. You like bluegrass? Uh, ok. You like old time music? Hey, if you’re into that kind of thing that’s cool, we’re very experienced. The important thing here is to have a good time, no judgements, and if a bra or two ends up on stage by the end of the night that’s all good. And by “bra” we mean bra.
What a thrill to join so many amazing bands at this year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival! Thanks to all our stalwart and new fans for supporting our set on October 5, we had a blast! If you didn’t catch our set, or want to relive the spectacle, here’s a 5min montage below. Let’s feast our eyes on this moment of glory and in unison shout to the Heavens: “THANK YOU MR. HELLMAN!”
Our evening of 3-part conjoined harmonies, fire breathing solos, and genetically modified Bluegrass was incredible- way to go Party People! Our new best friends Arann Harris & The Farm Band, and T Sisters broke hearts and melted faces… you know that’s a good thing, right? We’ll be taking this Freak Show on the road in October, join the spectacle on Fri 10/25 at Hopmonk in Sebastopol, CA. Tix available here.
Thanks to everyone who came out for our debut appearance at The Great American Music Hall on Friday July 19, we had a great time! If you weren’t there, we’ve got some nice footage of the show on our YouTube channel- simply click the YouTube link on the right sidebar of this page.
We had a blast at Oysterpalooza 2013, which now ranks (in our estimation at least) as one of the most fun and funkiest little festivals in Nor Cal. Rocker Oysterfeller’s and the Valley Ford Hotel are the mussle behind the shell, and have created a powerful trifecta of local music, gourmet food, and craft beer. Featuring two stages and lots of goodtime-party-people, this event is one to put on your calendar for next year.
